Marty Sheds light on the lives of celebs at home Sports host talks to actor O’dowd in new RTE series
O’dowd from Hollywood in LA sent me back a message saying, ‘I’d love to be interviewed by you in your shed’.
“He is my hero because he could easily have said nothing or he could have said no, but he was very decent.
“I was always a great fan of Chris O’dowd because he was in Bridesmaids and The IT Crowd, but I’m even a bigger fan now.”
Seasoned broadcaster Marty is also
Marty and his shed in Rathfarnam back on our screens next week with his new RTE One series Marty And Bernard [O’shea] – On the Road Again.
The pair have forged one of Ireland’s most famous bromances after he got to know the comic when they were Dancing With The Stars contestants.
O’shea has said he is amazed at the queues of people that form around the GAA commentator, who seems to be quite oblivious to his celebrity status.
Morrissey added: “People are very nice and thanks be to God.
“I really appreciate it every day that they seem to like what I do or most of what I do because they could easily think you’re a jerk or a bit of an a ****** e.
“I come from a small village and parish on the west coast of Clare so there are no fancy notions because if you had notions about yourself forget it.”
And he admitted the sports vacuum is only starting to dawn on him as he had been so preoccupied with coronavirus.
Morrissey said: “It was last Sunday, I was supposed to be in Gaelic Park to do New York and Galway on the radio, the Connacht championship, and I realised, I know where I should be’.”
So in its absence, the broadcaster told how he is delighted to follow in the footsteps of Jimmy Kimmel.
He added: “I just enjoy people and I like talking to them and having fun. I hope it’s a distraction for people and if they get a smile out of it isn’t it fantastic?”
Marty In The Shed starts at 7pm on the RTE Player tonight and Marty And Bernard – On The Road Again on RTE One is on Wednesday at 9.35pm.
