Disguised as a Polish crone, she mercilessl­y plunged a pitchfork into Niko Polastri’s neck just as his horrified wife Eve (Sandra Oh) takes place. The first episode, which airs on Thursday, focuses on the skills of designer Dermot Melia from Co Meath.

Dermot is a landscaper with a unique sense of style, always well dressed – even in the garden.

A ninth generation horticultu­rist, he loves gardening and studied at Warrenstow­n Horticultu­re College and UCD.

For the past 20 years, he has been building his skills working in the constructi­on and landscapin­g industries. However, he walked through the door set for a romantic reunion. This week we see Villanelle (Jodie Comer) seek out her birth family in Russia. dreams of winning a Gold medal at Bloom, the Chelsea Flower Show and one day even hosting his own TV gardening programme focusing on biodiversi­ty. Homeowner Nicola Clancy, meanwhile, is looking for a whimsical, low-maintenanc­e, social garden. Her ideal is a space to enjoy with her twin boys, Tristan and Reuben, 10 – including a romantic area just for herself – without too much effort to maintain it. To fulfil Nicola’s desire Dermot has created a “room effect’ design for a garden that mixes contempora­ry style and sunken areas with a country cottage feel. He has three weeks to channel his inner romantic and bring the design to life so Nicola can have her dream garden. Watch this open space!
