Kate gets plants at garden centre
THE Duchess of Cambridge wears a floral dress as she turns gardener at a children’s hospice – after buying the shrubs herself.
Kate delivered plants for a new patio garden at the Nook centre, near Norwich, as part of Children’s Hospice Week.
She is patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, which runs the Nook. Kate chatted to Star Pope-saunders, 11, and her brothers Hudson, eight, and Sonny, six, who has a brain tumour. Kate told the family: “You show such resilience and bravery. You are an inspiration.”
The Duchess raised a smile when she said her children George, six, Charlotte, five, and Louis, two, are having a sunflower growing contest. She said: “Louis is winning so George is a little grumpy!”
Kate, 38, also re-potted a large sunflower that she donated in memory of Fraser Delf, nine, who died in January at the Milton hospice in Cambridge. Last week Kate spoke to his parents in a video call and praised Fraser’s brother Stuie, 13, who ran a sponsored 5km run every day last month.
Tracy Rennie, EACH’S acting chief executive, said: “The Duchess wanted to create a patio garden. It will really bring people together. I gave her a brief to include plants with smells and bright colours. She delivered brilliantly!”
