Crimes come from a blend Down Under

-

AN Australian wine brand is using the mugshots of Irish convicts to market its products.

19 Crimes Wine refers to the offences which saw Irish prisoners deported Down Under in the 1800s.

The company is using the pictures of five convicts, stamping one random crime on each bottle cork and a passage on the label documenting the convict’s life.

It says the wine also celebrates the culture they helped build Down Under.

Around 40,000 Irish convicts were shipped to Australia between 1791 and 1869, though many died en route.
