GIBSON HEEDED WARNING

JOHN HENDRIE reckons the roots of Middlesbrough’s move for Neil Warnock go back almost 30 years. Striker Hendrie was in the Boro side that lost to Warnock’s Notts County in the 1991 Division Two play-off semifinals. County beat Brighton in the final to win promotion.

Hendrie is sure Boro chairman Steve Gibson, a young board member then, will have cast his mind back when he asked Warnock (left) to try and rescue the Championship strugglers from relegation.
