Vital hols advice up in the air

Travel guidelines are causing uncertainty for flyers

could fly to. These air corridors have been talked about extensively and yet there’s no clear answer as to whether we should fly or not.

The Government is letting people in from England and the US, countries that are riddled with Covid and there’s no strict monitoring of where they go once they get to their lockdown location.

Just give an address and that’s it. It’s bonkers considering nobody’s really going to adhere to the quarantine, particularly if they’re over for

Dr Jack Lambert a good time and know nobody’s watching them. At last Friday’s Covid-19 press conference the Department of Health reported incoming travellers have again become a source of new cases. On the same day Aer Lingus released a statement asking the new Government to ease up on flight restrictions. We’ve all got cabin fever, having been locked up for months travel, but it should be mandatory so all this hullaballoo over whether travel is safe or not would be put to bed.

In fact, Failte Ireland could do a deal and pay for a percentage of the testing to save the tourism sector before our short summer is over.

We could then welcome our overseas friends in their droves, once we knew they were Covidfree.

Common sense needs to prevail, we should be allowed to travel and take personal responsibility for ourselves.

If the Government is going to sit on the fence and not give us clear guidelines and dance around the subject, you have a situation where nobody knows where they stand.

This virus is not going anywhere and it’s beating us if we simply hide away in fear. We need to start living again.
