Pulling on trainers to go for it again

-

January is the time of year when it’s hard not to reflect on the last 12 months, what I was proud about and what I may be able to do better in 2021.

Whilst it’s great to enjoy the successes, unlike Donald Trump I can’t rewrite history. So I will be focused on what I can do this year to make it the most epic ever!

Firstly, if nothing else, 2020 taught me that plans change beyond my control, and not to get distressed if they do.

I am still running of course, so have major races planned in the Sahara in April, Bhutan in May plus Spain in July. Having missed all these last year I am desperate to get to them so the rest of the winter I will be training hard to be race ready.

I was honoured by many accolades last year but resting on my laurels does nothing for me so I have to try even harder to be a better me than before.

Mentally I start from scratch or zero.

Whilst running is an essential part of what keeps me going and feeling positive it does not end there. I know that the healthier, more positive and happy I am, the more the most important people in my life will benefit – my wife and children.

That brings me to reflect on what I probably failed at most last year and that was spending quality shared time with my family to help us all enjoy both the now and also create the best memories for future reflection.

I don’t know if you have anything you would like to be better at this year but if you think hard I am sure you too can make the world a better place for you and those around you. Until next week, Kev
