JOSE’S IN FOR BIT OF SHOCK

FEW people know that I actually got my first taste of the Liverpool first team in one of the biggest upsets in the club’s history.

As a 17-year-old, I was on the bench when we lost 2-0 at home to Bolton in the FA Cup third round in 1993, when the Trotters were still in what is now League One.

It still goes down as one of the famous giant-killings in the competition.

Which is why I was never ruling out a proper cup upset this weekend – and it started yesterday with Chorley’s victory over Wayne Rooney’s Derby County.

We also remember Hereford beating Newcastle and Sutton beating Coventry.

And, while I think those non-league miracle victories usually tend to be a thing of the past, there is still the hope that Marine can do something similar against Tottenham today.

They were actually my local team – I lived only about half a mile away from the ground and I’ve been there many times.

The first I can remember was in the early 80s, when my dad played in a cup final there for a famous local Sunday League side, and scored in a 4-0 win.

What a day that was for a young Fowler.

I have a mate who used to play for them, too, and because I’ve been there quite a few times, I can tell you Spurs are in for a hell of a culture shock.

There is a cowshed stand down one side and the touchline is about six feet away from people’s gardens!

I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of people taking the air in their gardens on Sunday… and I’m not sure if that would even be a social distance from the pitch!!

But this is Jose Mourinho, and he takes the cups very seriously. He will want to win it this year, no doubt.

They may rest players, but there will still be a formidable team out there.

So, as much as I would love to see an upset, I won’t be holding my breath.
