King takes Old of cup

BOURNEMOUTH will be sticking another £5million on wantaway striker Josh King’s price tag after his brace against Oldham.

Norway frontman King was desperate to leave the Cherries in the summer after Bournemouth were relegated from the Premier League.

West Ham have been linked this month – as a potential replacement for Sebastien Haller – with King out of contract in the summer.

And he stuck himself in the shop window with a classy second-half double to bag his first goals since last season’s last day.

And Cherries boss Jason Tindall joked the club can try and squeeze a few more pounds for the former Manchester United youngster.

“It might have put another £5m on his price tag!” Tindall laughed.

“He has been very good in the last couple of weeks. I can’t question how he’s trained and how his attitude has been.

“All the speculation is in the past and has been put aside and not really been thought about. It is important he put that away from his focus as he can’t affect it and he’s done it.”

King climbed highest for his first, before clubbing into a bottom corner late on in his second 90 minutes of the campaign.

“It was important that Josh played today and got good minutes under his belt,” Tindall said.

“He started off a little bit slower but grew into it and in the second half I thought he was a real handful and a real threat.

“He came off the pitch with two good goals and 90 minutes behind him.

“It was a really good afternoon for Josh King. I hope he’ll stay here.”

Cherries made 10 changes from their victory over Stoke – with Jack Simpson the sole survivor.

They were outclassed in the first half by the League Two Latics but took the lead two minutes before halftime when David Brooks’ pile-driver deflected in, then they were pegged back moments later when the underdogs were given a penalty.

Davis Keillor-dunn turned Simpson before keeper Will Dennis clattered him. Dylan Bahamboula netted.

Tindall was not happy and the Cherries battered the lower-league opposition after the break.

Rodrigo Riquelme netted soon after the restart before King’s double eased Bournemouth through.
