Ipswich 2 Swindon

JOHN SHERIDAN hopes Swindon’s superb away win at promotion-chasing Ipswich gives his players the belief they can avoid a relegation fight.

Two goals from former Norwich winger Diallang Jaiyesimi (right) and a wonder strike from Scott Twine was enough for Swindon to win, despite James Norwood and Alan Judge replying for Town.

“We know we are good enough to climb the table,” said Sheridan.

“But it’s getting points we need to win games. Like previous games we have played well, but just not picked anything up and I’m just pleased that we are going away with the three points.”

Speaking about Twine’s goal he said: “It was as a wonder strike and you won’t see many better goals than that, it was a tremendous strike.

“We have got to stay in the mix because teams are winning games at the bottom and we have got to believe that we can stay in this division.” Stuart

Taylor, Ipswich’s assistant manager, said his side “didn’t do well” in the first half which cost them. He added: “The way we starte started the first half wa wasn’t like us, it was u unrecognisable. “In the second half we did much better, the last 20 m minutes we were rea really good and it was more like us. “There was a purpose about us, an intensity, but we need to realise that that’s the way we need to start games.”

Gillingham Burton 1

JIMMY FLOYD HASSELBAINK felt his players were rewarded for their hard work in training after winning his first match back in charge of Burton.

“They took things on board and it was good to work with them,” said Hasselbaink, who saw loan signing Hayden Carter hit the winner on his debut.

Gillingham assistant Paul Raynor said: “We shouldn’t have left Burton with anything to hang on to.”

Rochdale 3 Crewe 3

CREWE manager David Artell believes his players need to show greater concentration.

Two goals from Oliver Finney and Owen Dale’s strike had Crewe in command at the break, but Adrian Morley and Matty Lund’s double earned a stunning point for Rochdale.

“There were a few lads who thought the game was won after 45 minutes and that’s unacceptable in my book,” Artell said. “It’s two points dropped.” Rochdale manager Brian Barry-murphy said: “I thought our players were amazing in the second half.”
