A SUPERSLIMMER has described being able to tie her shoelaces after losing 10 stone as her “Mount Everest moment”.

Polish native Jolanta Zadora was on the verge of getting gastric band surgery before she discovered Slimming World.

Jolanta, who has lived in Portlaoise for 15 years, told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “I was 21 stone and in pain with my back and I’ve lost 10 stone now in 18 months since joining.

“I’m one and a half pounds off 50% of my beginning weight.”

The 41-year-old said she’s struggled her whole life and just accepted that she was big-boned and heavy, even as a child.

The mum-of-one added: “I was always going on crash diets, I met so many dieticians and spent a fortune.” The trained physiotherapist injured her back working in a nursing home and her weight was an extra burden.

She said: “I injured my back in 2011 but since then I had a few operations and my weight was getting worse since then.

“In my head I was screaming for help because I knew it was going one way, my back was killing me and I was going to end up in a wheelchair according to the orthopaedic doctor.

“There was such pressure on me to lose the weight from a health perspective, I was fighting to come back to life.”

Determined Jolanta was persuaded by her local GP to seek group support.

She explained: “I was at my wits’ end. She said I should try Slimming World, before doing clips on my stomach.

“She felt I needed contact with other people struggling with the same problem. Jolanta heaped praise on Slimming World consultant Ingrid who supported her.

She said: “She’s like a mum to all the members, she cares about every single pound.”

Jolanta revealed: “I don’t need to count the calories. I was always so much but very bad things, I wasn’t checking labels or how many fats were in the food, I was just buying, cooking and eating. “Now I check every label before I buy anything, every single fat and sugar. “I will eat one square of chocolate instead of the whole bar and really enjoy it.” Jolanta said it’s the little things like being able to bend down and see her feet that mean so much. She added: “I can now wear my socks and tie my shoelaces with no pain and no belly fat, for me that’s like climbing Mount Everest.”
