PEARLS IS REAL GEM

Twomey’s filly has talent Galore & can claim Brownstown prize

- RYAN MCELLIGOTT

PADDY TWOMEY’S Pearls Galore looks a solid option in the Group 3 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse.

This classy filly is good enough to make her mark at this level and will line up with the benefit of a low draw.

Pearls Galore has only run once this season and that came in the Group 3 Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown last month.

On that occasion she finished a good third to Real Appeal and she can be expected to progress.

Her other form includes a Group 3 second to Champers Elysees last season and a return to that level would make her hard to beat.

She might have most to fear from Valeria Messalina who won this race last year when it was run over a straight seven furlongs at Cork.

The card begins with a couple of interesting two-year-old maidens and in the first of these Shoebox King can strike for trainer Kevin Coleman who has a fine record at this track.

This colt struggled on his debut but did much better over this course and distance last month when he was second.

A repeat of that run leaves this son of Aclaim with a clear edge over chief rival Ultramarine.

In other two-year-old maiden Thunder Eclipse is taken to strike for Fozzy Stack who has an impressive array of two-year-old talent at his disposal this season.

This colt has been beaten on four occasions and he failed to justify odds on favouritism at Limerick last time.

However, he gets the vote as he is a useful and experienced type who looks good enough to make his mark at this level.

In the first of the day’s handicaps Mrs Bouquet can strike for Jack Davison following an unlucky third at Naas last week.

In the other sprint handicap Misterio could strike under ten pound claimer Jamie Powell.

She has a wide draw to overcome but she is in good form and her rider’s claim is a notable positive.

Female Approach is capable of completing a hat-trick in the three-yearold handicap.
