RADWAN RUNS CANADA DRY

Canada 14

EDDIE JONES saw his rookies put 10 tries past the outclassed Canadians and then warned the hard graft starts now.

Newcastle wing Adam Radwan scored a hat-trick on his debut and club mate Jamie Blamire became the second hooker to score three for England in a Test.

Big Joe Cokanasiga struck twice in the 20th and 23rd minutes to make it four in two games and break the backs of the Canadians, and there was one for prop Ellis Genge to cap off a storming game.

That is two out of two for the summer following last weekend’s win over USA, and 16 debutants, but Jones has warned the tough stuff starts now.

He said: “We are pleased with the squad of 36 — they have all worked really hard but from here every day is an audition. We had 36 players here, 13 with the Lions and 10 rehabilitating — that is 59 players competing for 31 places in the World Cup squad.

“Guys now have an opportunity to kick their careers on, the only thing that is going to stop them is desire and hard work.”

Radwan had the 10,000 crowd on their feet with his electric pace. He scored on 15, 50 and 61 minutes and for his first and third tries he turned on the afterburners to blow Canada away.

He has been timed at 10.6m per second and Jones added: “He has outstanding pace and is strong for his size.”

England were on the board in 53 seconds then Blamire made the most of a driving maul from a lineout. Canada drew level through scrum-half Ross Braude before England drew clear.

A penalty try and Radwan’s first opened the floodgates but skipper Lewis Ludlow was lucky to escape with a yellow card for stamping on prop Jake Ilnicki after half an hour.

England led 42-14 at halftime and, although Canada managed a second after the break through wing Kainoa Lloyd, it was a complete mismatch. ENGLAND: Tries: Blamire (3), Radwan (3), Cokanasiga (2), Genge, penalty Cons: Smith (9) CANADA: Tries: Braude, Lloyd Cons: Nelson (2)
