Terries have the Cor factor

- By LIZ BYRNES at John Smith’s Stadium

HUDDERSFIELD boss Carlos Corberan insists he is reading nothing into his team’s rise to the top six.

Tom Lees gave the Terriers an early lead when he bundled home Danel Sinani’s corner after keeper Matt Ingram failed to clear.

Duane Holmes sealed victory when he skipped past several challenges on the edge of the box and curled a sumptuous shot home.

Victory made it seven points from three games for Huddersfield who move sixth while Hull remain 21st.

Corberan said: “It doesn’t change anything because we are going to play in three days anyway and we are going to have one very, very demanding game against Birmingham (on Wednesday).

“I watched them against West Bromwich and that means they have one day more to recover.

“It means the game is going to be very tough because for me they didn’t deserve the loss, for me the minimum result was the point, even more.

“Now the key is how you recover and how you use the next days.”

He added: “I knew the level of energy of Hull would be very high but I knew that the level of energy of our players would be very high too.”

The Tigers took four points from two games before the international break and, while they had plenty of possession, their final ball was wasteful.

Keane Lewis-potter’s free-kick was pushed away by Lee Nicholls with the Terriers keeper tipping over Jacob Greaves’ header and Mallik Wilks shot wide in added time.

Hull have scored just eight goals this season — four of them on the opening day — and boss Grant Mccann cut a frustrated figure.

He said: “There’s nothing else in the game apart from the set-play goals we’ve conceded.

“We had huge chances that we didn’t take and that was the difference between the two teams.”
