This was Brighton’s biggest ever top-flight win, in what was their 356th match at this level.

Yesterday’s defeat leaves Manchester United on 58 points with just one Premier League game remaining this season, guaranteeing that 2021-22 will see their lowest points total in a campaign in the competition (previously 64 in 2013-14).

Brighton have won four of their last six Premier League games (D1 L1), more than they did in their previous 25 beforehand (W3 D13 L9). Victory was the Seagulls’ first at home in the Premier League in 2022, ending an eight-match winless run at home in the competition (D4 L4).

Since Brighton were promoted in 2017, against no other side have United lost more away games in the competition than their three defeats at the Amex in this time (also lost three at Arsenal and Liverpool).

Goal hero Moises Caicedo was the seventh Ecuadorian player to score in the Premier League. At 20 years and 186 days, he is the second-youngest of those seven to score his first in the competition, after Felipe Caicedo for Man City v West Brom in December 2008 (20y 107d).

With a goal and two assists, Albion ace Leandro Trossard was directly involved in three goals in a single Premier League game for the first time. The Belgian has more league goal involvements for his club than any other player this season (11 – eight goals, three assists).
