Funnyman weds American love in lavish beachfront ceremony
COMEDIAN Des Bishop has tied the knot with his American love Hannah Berner in a lavish beachfront ceremony in the Hamptons.
The American-irish funnyman has been dating fellow comedian Hannah for two years after the pair fell for each other during Covid lockdown.
Des, 46, and Hannah, 30, said “I do” on at the prestigious seaside escape for New York’s elite with friends and family.
Photos shared online by guests show the pair taking their vows before hosting a lively reception at Des’s plush home.
Des cut a dapper figure in a tuxedo while Berning In Hell podcaster Hannah opted for a simple gown with a long train.
In keeping with the American tradition the couple had a rehearsal dinner on Thursday, which was also held at Des’ home according to US reports.
The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2021 and announced their engagement a month later on Instagram. Des marked the occasion with a social media post declaring: “When you know you know. Laughs for life.” The pair began their whirlwind romance after they met online in July 2020. They planned to marry last summer but were forced to postpone due to issues with the venue.
New York-born Des previously explained how the pandemic was “amazing” for their relationship because they got to spend so much time together.
Shortly after they met he told RTE’S Miriam O’callaghan he had found “the one”. He said: “I have fallen in love... We didn’t know each other, we just followed each other on Instagram.
“I noticed that she was isolating near here [New York] and in a moment of, ‘We are both out here, do you want to get a coffee?’ and boom we clicked immediately.
“It has been quite an intense falling in love experience. I have met many amazing women in my life but I think this concept of ‘the one’, that if you are open to it you really fall.
“It’s been a more powerful sort of falling for somebody than I have ever experienced in my life.
“So I would be confident in saying I will certainly make an effort that it is it, because it feels like it is ‘the one’.”
Hannah said the relationship faced challenges early on as she was filming US reality show Summer House.
She revealed: “I was in the house, so he’s definitely seen a lot of sides to me.
“It wasn’t the easiest beginning of our relationship, but you’ll get to see that play out on the show.”
