Accor has chosen the captivating island of Crete as the location for the launch of its second Mgallery hotel in Greece.

Niko Seaside Resort Mgallery, the latest addition to the boutique brand, opened last month, just 10 minutes away from the picturesque city centre of Agios Nikolaos.

The adults-only oasis offers 141 rooms and suites with either a balcony or terrace, and private plunge pools in a design that blends contemporary chic with the character of the historic island in a soothing palette of greys, greens and blues.

Guests have two on-site dining options: elegant lobby restaurant and bar Ariagne serves a fusion of Mediterranean and Cretan cuisine, while for a gastronomic experience and mesmerising views of Mirabello Bay, head up to poolside restaurant Mira. From £128 a night. all.accor.com

You’ll find London’s newest hotel, Lost Property, right on Ludgate Hill, just a stone’s throw from St Paul’s Cathedral. Housed behind the Grade II listed Creed Court building facade, the 145-room property is set to open its doors this summer. The theme of finding lost treasures and traditions runs through the hotel’s design, from the discovery of Roman pottery during its construction, to the rooms’ interiors celebrating the intricacies of lost craftsmanship.

In the Found restaurant and bar – with its exquisite centrepiece, an ornate chandelier of figurines of extinct birds crafted out of Murano glass – diners can look forward to classic dishes with a nostalgic twist such as prawn cocktail, roast duck breast and Eton mess. Rooms from £170 a night. lostpropertyhotel.com
