FIRE WHEN I ACCEPTED THIS JOB’

-

it goes well, I want it to be about the players, the team, the club and the fans.

“That’s my belief of what this job is and, the better I do my job, the credit can go to other places and we enjoy success together.

“Our focus right now is always to stay strong together, have a plan for Sunday’s match and make sure that we’re at our best.

“Of course, it’s incredibly serious. There are bigger things in life than football, but we are so aligned and committed here.

“The gravity of the situation, and the difficulty of it, has unified us even more.

“When we sit in a room together, the energy is still so strong and positive and the belief is still there. I have to exude that in everything I do – even sitting here I have no doubts.”

Marsch realised Leeds were in a perilous position when he decided to accept the job in late February.

But he is hoping his work with the squad during his brief reign can guide them to safety.

He added: “All I knew, when I stepped into this situation, was that I was getting into the fire.

“When I came in, all I tried to do was learn as quickly as possible how to help the group in that moment and transmit a positive way to give us the best chance in these last two matches. When I came in with 12 matches to go, I looked at these last two games and thought, ‘Yes, we’re going to need results in those games. It will come down to those last two games’.

“How good can we be and how much can we have learnt so that, in these last two games, we are ready to fight for everything? We’re going to make sure we’re ready to be at our absolute best.”
