Jesus backing a Brazil pal to strike it Rich

- EXCLUSIVE BY RICHARD EDWARDS

GABRIEL JESUS loved seeing Brazil team-mate Richarlison put his off-the-field troubles behind him with his first Prem goal of the season for Tottenham last weekend.

And he believes that, as much as any team would suffer from Harry Kane departing, Richarlison can go a good way towards addressing the void created by the England captain’s exit to Bayern Munich.

Jesus reckons his compatriot’s strike against Sheffield United could prove to be the perfect platform.

He just hopes Richarlison does not fill Kane’s shoes until after Arsenal host Spurs in this afternoon’s first north London

derby of the season.

After all, Kane scored 14 goals for Tottenham in his 17 derbies in the Premier League.

Jesus said: “Everyone knows how good Harry Kane is. Not just the goals he scores – all the time he’s not easy to play against and obviously that’s not good for them, losing a player like Kane. But, apart from that, they have a good team, they have good strikers like Richarlison.

“The goal against Sheffield United will help Richarlison a lot. As a striker, when you are not scoring, people start to talk and doubt you.

“I hope he can come back and do what he loves to do, which is play football and score goals – but not on Sunday.”

The two sides come into today’s clash tied on 13 points, with four wins and a draw each to show for their early-season efforts. Tottenham hold the edge on goal difference

Jesus added: “They have a good team, they are in good momentum and they will come here to try to win the game.

“But we are at home and, for sure, our fans will be bouncing again and will help us a lot, pushing us all the time.

“It’s our home and we have to play together, play well like we did against PSV Eindhoven to win the three points, that is the most important thing.

“It’s a big match, a derby and, like I said, the fans will have the stadium bouncing again and they will push us.”
