Munoz in the mire after latest Owl-er

- Lowe 28 pen, Yates 64, Patino 67 By DELME PARFITT

XISCO MUNOZ stayed defiant after his Sheffield Wednesday side slumped to defeat in South Wales.

Owls fans called for the Spanish boss to go and barracked him mercilessly as their dismal team fell to a sixth Championship reverse of the season.

Munoz said: “The performance was very strange. In the second half we had chances to score, but we are in difficulty now.

“Everything is negative but it’s important we stay together, I need people to help me in this situation.

“We can put the focus on me but I will continue until my last day.

“I am not stupid, I knew the situation when I signed here. I understand the unhappiness.”

Swansea went into the game with their own boss, Michael Duff, under similar pressure but a 28th-minute penalty from Jamal Lowe set them on the way to victory after winger Josh Ginnelly was brought down by Pol Valentin.

Lowe then turned provider twice in the space of three minutes.

First he squared for sub Jerry Yates to sidefoot ............... 3 home. Then his threaded pass put midfielder Charlie Patino clear to chip home the third.

Duff confessed last week that even his mother-in-law had criticised him over recent poor results.

He said: “She was at the game! I’m a lucky man, I’ve a supportive family and a loyal dog. But I won’t be coming in on Monday highfiving anyone.

“Hopefully winning can become a habit.

“I’m proud of the players and pleased with our crowd.

“A few passes went astray early on but there was no negativity.” SWANSEA: Rushworth 8; Key 7, Cabango 7, Wood 7 (Darling (10) 8), Pedersen 7; Grimes 8, Lowe (Tymon (74) 9), Cullen 8, Paterson 7, Patino 7 (Fulton (74) 6); Ginnelly 8 (Yates (41) 8) SHEFFIELD WEDS: Vasquez 4; Diaby 5, Valentin 3 (Smith (70) 4), Delgado 5 (Paterson (55) 4), Bernard 4; Bannan 5, Buckley 5 (Windass (55) 5), Hendrick 3 (Byers (77) 4), Famewo 4; Musaba 3, Gregory 4 (Fletcher (70) 4) STAR MAN: Jamal Lowe – Scored from the spot and set up his side’s other two goals.
