Scheff all cut up by a stuffing
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER, the world No.1, was left in tears after suffering a record Ryder Cup stuffing by Scandi sensations Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg.
The Norwegian and the Swedish rookie romped to a 9&7 victory after going 6-up after seven holes and winning the final four holes to make history.
But Scheffler and US PGA champion Brooks Koepka were a shambles.
They started the morning foursomes with two double bogeys and a bogey in their first three holes.
2022 Masters winner Scheffler was comforted by his wife Meredith after the shocking performance – and dropped from the afternoon fourballs.
Koepka, who accused Jon Rahm of acting “like a child” on Friday, also sat out.
Hovland said: “Obviously we make a strong team.
“Regardless, I think we could have met a lot of guys and we would have been tough to beat today.
“Scottie and Brooks weren’t on top of their game and that’s how 9&7 came to be.”
Aberg, who only turned pro in June, said: “It’s unbelievable, but obviously today was quite surreal at times... almost pinch myself, but obviously super happy with it.”
There had been two previous 8&7 singles wins in Ryder Cup history.
Fleetwood Mac remained undefeated together as Tommy Fleetwood and Rory Mcilroy won their second foursomes on the 17th green 2&1. The Ulsterman rolled in a 13-foot par putt to see off Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.
The Americans finally won their first match when Brian Harman and Max Homa beat Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka 4&2.
Open champion Harman said: “We got rinsed yesterday, so it is good to get a point on the board.”
