Hayes is all set for a battering Hamn

-

CHELSEA boss Emma Hayes is anticipating an “aggressive” Tottenham side as they prepare for their Women’s Super League opener today.

Champions Chelsea kickstart the defence of their title against Tottenham, whose new manager Robert Vilahamn takes charge of his first game since joining from Swedish side Hacken.

Spurs finished ninth last season but Hayes (below) is aware of Vilahamn’s recent successes and expects a much different Tottenham side at Stamford Bridge.

She said: “I’m aware of the way his teams play. They’ve played a few mainly behind closed doors so we have limited information.

“They will be aggressive, compact and difficult to break down. They haven’t conceded many in pre-season and I’m sure when he gets players into that, only time will tell what they’ll look like.’

Tottenham defender Molly Bartrip is excited and thinks they will come out fighting.

She said: “We are in the best shape we could be so bring it on.

“We’re underdogs but that’s not bad. We can go out and prove a point.”

Manchester United travel to Aston Villa with the Red Devils looking to build on last season’s second place, alongside an FA Cup Final appearance.

Bristol City are back in the top flight following a two-year absence and face Leicester at Ashton Gate while Manchester City take on West Ham having made Dutch midfielder Jill Roord their only summer signing.

Mary Fowler hailed her new team-mate saying: “From just training with her she’s top-class. We’re really excited to have her here. A nice addition to our team.” Three-time champions Arsenal begin their campaign with the visit of Liverpool.

And Everton will welcome Brighton with the Toffees out to improve on last year’s top-half finish. The Seagulls, who escaped the drop on the last day, have signed 10 new players.
