JON ROWE’S golden touch continues to light up Norwich’s stop-start season.

A first call to the England Under-21s squad this week is just reward for a return of seven goals in 11 games.

Unfortunately for the striker, his effort just before half-time did not settle this hard-fought battle. Three points became one in the dying minutes courtesy of a Ben Gibson headed own goal.

The defender held his head in his hands after diverting Milan van Ewijk’s cross past the outstanding Angus Gunn while the home fans erupted.

Coventry were aiming for a third win on the bounce and had to settle for extending their unbeaten home record instead.

Boss Mark Robins said: “I’m disappointed we did not go on and win it. But keeping our home record is huge. Seven points in three games this week is a good start.

“I’m pleased with a point but it’s tinged with a little disappointment. I was really pleased with the way we played. Their emergency defending was incredible. They stopped us taking all three points and scoring two, three or four goals.”

The breakthrough came just before half-time and was very much against the run of play. Josh Eccles tried to play out of defence and only succeeded in sparking a wild scramble for the ball. Rowe did not need asking twice.

The second half was all Coventry attacking and it needed last-gasp blocking from defenders and saved by Gunn.

Norwich boss David Wagner said: “When you concede a late goal you feel different but it was a fair result.”
