Mckenna finds Kie to victory
KIERAN MCKENNA hailed his Ipswich scorers after Town won a six-goal thriller.
Conor Chaplin, Brandon Williams, Nathan Broadhead and sub Kayden Jackson were the men on target for Town, who stay second.
Mckenna said: “There were some great goals, some great entertainment – and bits in the performance I didn’t love.
“But we found a way – and we were worthy winners.”
Preston were caught out in the 18th minute when Leif Davis drilled a corner beyond the penalty spot to Chaplin, who lost marker Alan Browne to smash a volley into the top corner.
Town appeals for handball from Robbie Brady’s ball over the top were ignored and Mads Frokjaer slotted home a 28th-minute equaliser.
Preston keeper Freddie Woodman denied George Hirst before Williams netted a superb solo effort 10 minutes before the break.
Then Broadhead tapped home in first-half stoppage time.
Cameron Burgess’ header to the back post was nodded back by Hirst for the ex-everton man to finish.
Ryan Lowe made three changes at the break and Preston were back in it within eight minutes when Ben Whiteman pinged a shot from outside the box in off defender Luke Woolfenden.
Jackson made sure of the points seconds after coming in when fellow replacement Omari Hutchinson, set free on the left, squared for an emphatic finish.
Preston stay third despite a third straight loss.
Lowe said: “I’m disappointed with the first half. You can’t give a team like Ipswich three goals.” IPSWICH: Hladky 6; Williams 8, Burgess 7, Woolfenden 6, Davis 7; Morsy 7, Luongo 6 (Taylor (76) 6); Burns 6 (Jackson (64) 7), Chaplin 7 (Hutchinson (64) 6), Broadhead 7 (Harness (64) 6); Hirst 7 (Ladapo (76) 6) PRESTON: Woodman 7; Whatmough 4 (Bauer (26) 6), Lindsay 5, Cunningham 5; Potts 6, Ledson 6, Browne 5 (Whiteman (46) 6), Brady 5 (Holmes (46) 5); Frokjaer 6 (Woodman (70) 6); Keane 5, Osmajic 4 (Miller (46) 5) STAR MAN: Brandon Williams – Ipswich defender scored a goal to remember and never shirked at the back either.
