DOUBLE KILLER IN BID TO MOVE JAIL

U-turn after tantrum cost him place in cushy prison

DOUBLE killer Frank Mccann has asked to be moved back to the jail he once “couldn’t get away from quick enough”.

The former swimming coach, who was jailed for life for the murders of his wife Esther and 18-month-old foster daughter Jessica, is currently in the Progression Unit at Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison after being moved there in June 2021 after barricading himself into his cell at Arbour Hill Prison.

It’s believed he was unhappy about his parole application being discussed on RTE’S Liveline which led other inmates to throw verbal taunts at him.

Now, despite the jails only being 3km apart, evil Mccann wants to return to Arbour Hill which has been described by a source as being like a quiet nursing home. A source told the Irish Sunday Mirror how Mccann appears to realise how cushy he had it before “throwing his toys out of the pram”.

The source said: “Arbour Hill

Prison is as quiet as you can get when it comes to a prison in Ireland. There is rarely ever any trouble. “Mccann went into a rage in 2021 when there was publicity surrounding his case on the radio and TV. “It’s understood he believed it would go against any chance he had of getting released. “He barricaded himself into his cell and refused to comply with any staff members. “It was an odd move as at the time he had a very cushy number and was even given a trusted job cleaning the staff area and maintaining the surrounding grounds of the prison.

“He lost all his privileges and was moved to Mountjoy.”

The source added: “However, it now appears that Mccann has come crawling back with his tail between his legs and wants to go back to where he once despised. It’s unlikely the request will be granted after his behaviour in 2021 but only time will tell.”

Mccann, 62, is one of the country’s longest serving prisoners.

He torched his home and left Esther and Jessica to die on September 4, 1992, in order to stop Esther finding out he’d fathered a child to a teen with special needs.
