NO ROUTE BACK FOR SANCHO
JADON SANCHO is finished at Manchester United – even if the £73million winger swallows his pride by apologising to boss Erik ten Hag.
Sancho, 24, has been left out of United’s last nine games after taking to social media to accuse Ten Hag of lying when the United manager explained he had axed the England international because of an attitude problem.
Ten Hag has banished the former Borussia Dortmund forward from the first-team dressing room until he receives a formal apology.
But Sunday Mirror Sport understands that the Dutchman feels that his relationship with Sancho is now beyond repair – and that the club must negotiate an exit strategy for the player in the January transfer window.
Ten Hag was given full backing when he called on his bosses to boot Cristiano Ronaldo out of Old Trafford after the Portuguese superstar had criticised him during an unsanctioned TV interview with Piers Morgan last year.
Now Sancho is set to suffer the same fate.
United are hoping that a move to Saudi Arabia can be resurrected after a proposed move to Al-ettifaq fell through.
Recouping a significant sum from elsewhere could prove problematic.
Dortmund and Juventus are both interested in taking Sancho away from the Premier League until the end of the season – but United would have to cover some of the player’s £250,000-a-week salary.
Sancho still has more than three-and-a-half years left on his contract and continues to be paid, despite Ten Hag’s refusal to have him in his squad.
And Ten Hag believes the issue has now become a significant test of his authority.
