Darren can’t ask for more after finally breaking duck

- Clarke-salter 42 ROSS HEPPENSTALL

DARREN MOORE could not hide his relief after guiding Huddersfield to victory – at the fifth time of asking.

Goals from striker Kian Harratt and playmaker Jack Rudoni put the Terriers 2-0 up after 14 minutes.

Yet Rangers hit back through Jake Clarke-salter, who was then denied an equaliser by the woodwork.

Town held on and Moore said: “The main thing was getting three points and to do it front our own fans was fantastic. I’m delighted. We started so well and scored two perfect goals but then it was like we pressed the pause button.

“I commend the players for staying resolute, though.

“There’s a lot for us to learn but I have to take the positives.” Harratt latched onto Rudoni’s superb pass and rifled home left-footed from six yards.

A delightful passing sequence then culminated in Sorba Thomas’ low rightwing cross being converted by Rudoni.

Rangers counterpart Gareth Ainsworth saw Clarke-salter head home in the 42nd minute before his near-miss early in the second half.

Ainsworth, who is coming under increased scrutiny, said: “We lost the game in the first 20 minutes – you can’t defend like that in the Championship.

“When you’re in the relegation zone, a fear comes into it so I’ve got to teach these players to be a bit more resilient. But I’ve never shirked a challenge and I won’t start now.” HUDDERSFIELD: Nicholls 6; Pearson 6, Helik 7, Lees 6 (Nakayama (82) 6); Thomas 7, Rudoni 8, Hogg 6, Wiles 6, Koroma 6 (Headley (67) 6); Burgzorg 6 (Hudlin (82) 6), Harratt 7 (Diarra (75) 6) QPR: Begovic 6; Kakay 5 (Cannon (70) 6), Dunne 5, Clarke-salter 6; Adomah 6 (Kolli (74) 6), Colback 6 (Dixon-bonner (74) 6), Dozzell 6, Field 6, Paal 6 (Larkeche (75) 6); Chair 6, Armstrong 6 (Smyth (64) 6) STAR MAN: Jack Rudoni – The Town midfielder showed his class with a goal and an assist.
