Mckenna bit Lowe after win

- By ROBERT DUNFORD REF:

IPSWICH boss Kieran Mckenna felt his side should have scored more goals after a nervy win over 10-man Swansea.

The Tractor Boys moved to joint top of the Championship with Leicester but were guilty of wasting a string of chances.

A late Swans effort turned it into a nail-biting end at Portman Road, which frustrated Mckenna.

He said “Let’s get it right – it shouldn’t have been 3-2, so there are bits of frustration about that.

“We should have been out of sight. I didn’t like how we played in the last 15 minutes against 10 men. We dropped the concentration levels – there’s frustration in the dressing room at the minute.”

Jay Fulton gave Swansea a shock lead after just seven minutes when he headed home a Jamal Lowe cross.

The goal fired up Ipswich and they equalised on 17 minutes with a rocket from Jack Taylor.

Ipswich were rampant and Conor Chaplin found the target in the 22nd minute to give them a deserved lead.

After Nathan Broadhead and George Hirst were denied, it looked all set for a home win when Hirst converted from the penalty spot.

It got worse for Swansea when Liam Cullen was dismissed for a second booking but Lowe’s goal made it twitchy for Ipswich.

Swansea head coach Michael Duff said: “In elements of our game we were excellent but if you break the game down into really simplistic terms we’ve been beaten by a 35-yard screamer, we conceded from a throw-in and a penalty from a corner. We’ve also had a man sent off from a throw-in.

“We shot ourselves in the foot in a mad 15 minutes.” IPSWICH: Hladky 6; Clarke 7, Woolfenden 6, Burgess 6, Davis 7; Morsy 7, Taylor 8 (Luongo (78) 6); Hutchinson 7 (Burns (64) 6), Chaplin 7 (Scarlett (78) 6), Broadhead 6 (Harness (63) 6); Hirst 6 (Lapado (89) 5) SWANSEA: Rushworth 5; Ashby 5 (Naughton (89) 5), Darling 4, Humphreys 4, Tymon 5; Fulton 4, Grimes 4; Cullen 5, Paterson 4 (Cooper (71) 4), Lowe 7; Yates 5 (Walsh (71) 4) STAR MAN: Jack Taylor – The midfielder rounded off a fine week with a superb goal to help Ipswich to victory.
