Table-climbing Toffees are all fight on the night

-

SEAN DYCHE praised the fight of his Everton players after they continued their climb up the table.

The Blues are unbeaten in four in all competitions and are eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Toffees boss Dyche said: “The determination and the willingness and mentality to win games is improving all the time.

“A fighting performance without a doubt. We’re finding ways to win, that’s a massive factor. We’re growing here.

“It’s only the beginning, but we are changing the Everton story.

“There’s a different feel to what people are writing about us and what they are saying and what the team are delivering.

“It can’t guarantee you wins but it gives us a much better chance if you’ve got the mentality that we’ve been showing.” Fresh from signing a new long-term deal at Selhurst Park, Eberechi Eze scored a penalty and believed he should have been awarded another.

But after a VAR check, Eze was booked for diving.

The Palace attacker said: “We did more than enough to win so it’s disappointing.

“I want to win games so I’m gutted we couldn’t do enough to get over the line. We conceded three goals but we could have scored many more.”

Eagles boss Roy Hodgson said: “Our home form is very poor. We’ve had one win in our first six matches at home and that’s not good enough.

“You can’t only rely on good away wins to get the points you need.

“So I’ve told the players what we have to do about it and I’m sure we will.

“It’s a bad day as I’ve seen the team lose but I find that hard to accept as I don’t think we should have fallen to that defeat.”
