The best thing was going up and singing... It was the best day of my life

TOY Show sensation Stevie Mulrooney said it would be a “dream to come” true to sing Ireland’s Call at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

This comes after the seven-year-old blew the RTE audience away with his rendition of Ireland’s rugby anthem on Friday night to rapturous applause.

Fans on Twitter were in tears with one saying: “Sing the anthems at the Aviva for the Italy match.”

Speaking to the Irish Sunday Mirror, Stevie from Kilkenny said: “It would be my dream to sing at the Aviva. Singing is my true talent.”

On the Late Late Show festive special Stevie showed off sports toys before taking on an obstacle course against host Patrick Kielty.

After performing he was surprised by rugby stars Bundee Aki and Peter

O’mahony and presented with a signed jersey and family tickets to Ireland V Italy in the Six Nations next year.

Stevie added: “The audience were emotional and Paddy is a very nice host.

“The best thing was going up and singing for the crowd. “It was the best day of my life.” “It was so special because the rugby players came out. When I grow up I want to be an actor or play rugby for Ireland.”

Dad Seamie, 56, said his son is a born entertainer.

He told us: “From day one, Stevie has been a bit of an entertainer and a bit of a singer, he’s tried every single sport. “He’s going seven days a week. “Monday is swimming, Tuesday is kickboxing or wrestling.

“Wednesday is Japanese jujitsu, Thursday is Polish school for three hours, he is fluent in Polish as his mam’s

Polish. Friday is hurling and Saturday is soccer with freebooters and Sunday is rugby with Kilkenny, plus singing lessons too.”

Mum Carolina, 40, added: “We’re so proud and it was very emotional. “I had tears in my eyes all night. “He sang that song last year in a contest in Navan and he didn’t win but he got a standing ovation.

“Last night the audience were joining in, it was so brilliant. “I do think he stole the nation’s hearts.” The annual TV Christmas extravaganza also featured other youngsters who stole the show and found instant fame on social media.

Moments included a surprise for Matilda superfans when the musical stage show’s star Alisha Weir appeared.

Talkative Sheamie Garrihy also proved an audience favourite as did bike tester Alma Moynihan.
