Duff jeered off as Swans struggle on
MICHAEL DUFF admits he understands why he was booed after his dominant Swansea side failed to beat fellow strugglers Huddersfield.
Ben Cabango’s own goal in the third minute appeared destined to earn the Terriers back-to-back victories for the first time under boss Darren Moore.
However, Arsenal loanee Charlie Patino slotted home his second goal of the campaign in the fourth minute of injury time to earn the Swans a share of the points.
But, after applauding the home fans after fulltime, Duff was jeered as his side failed to win for the fifth game running.
“They are showing their frustration,” he said.
“I think in the cold light of day they’ve watched the same game as us.
“I can make all the excuses in the world but you have to win. That’s part of my job.
“You get clapped when you win and you get booed when you don’t.”
Despite conceding at the death in South Wales, the Terriers have claimed five of the nine points on offer since the international break.
And manager Moore says the club are heading in the right direction after a tough start to the campaign.
“Over the three games this week after the international break, to take five points against the calibre of teams we’ve played – taking into consideration the travel – then I’ve got to be pleased,” he said.
“I said to the boys two weeks ago the work we did in the international break, this will carry you through the next three games.”
