JASON Smyth is the new favourite to win Dancing with the Stars.

The six-time Paralympic gold medal-winning sprinter has overtaken Rosanna Davison to become the 5/1 frontrunner to sashay his way to victory.

Legally-blind Smyth, 36 from Derry, won golds for Ireland at the 2008 Paralympics, setting records at the Men’s 100m and 200m.

Former Miss World Rosanna Davison and Drag Queen star Blu Hydrangea are hot on his heels at 6/1 a piece. Other famous faces in the mix include presenter Katja Mia and social media star Miriam Mullins tied at 8/1. David Whelan of Wild Youth is at 9/1, while 2FM presenter Laura Fox and Fair City actor Shane Quigley are both priced at 10/1. Horse Racing legend Davy Russell is currently at 12/1.

Former RTE newscaster Eileen Dunne is the rank outsider as things stand at 16/1.

Nicola Mcgeady of Ladbrokes said: “Despite only being confirmed to join the line-up on Friday morning, Jason Smyth is already the frontrunner to win Dancing with the Stars.”

Rehearsals are already underway for the show with Rosanna Davison revealing that her “head is fried” trying to remember the steps.

Dance partners are yet to be revealed but Rosanna took to social media revealing it feels like she has a “fourth child.” On the previous week’s Late Late Show, former Miss World Rosanna, Eileen, David, Blu and Miriam were announced as the first five of the 11 contestants who will battle it out for the glitterball trophy when the show returns in the New Year.

Ireland’s fittest family presenter Laura was announced on Sunday and Fair City actor Shane was named on Monday.

Davy was then announced on Tuesday, Katja on Wednesday, Rory on Thurday and Jason was the final celebrity to be announced.
