Pop icon Kylie sees red over clothes row

-

Kylie Minogue clashed with ITV bosses over her wardrobe demands on tonight’s An Audience With Kylie – after being told to choose just one outfit. The icon, famed for her gold hotpants and hooded catsuits, refused, and insisted on five spectacular costume changes. Kylie told the star-studded crowd at London’s Royal Albert Hall: “ITV must have thought they were booking someone else. They were, like, ‘Could you just have one outfit?’” Kylie – who sang a selection of hits, plus songs from her latest album Tension – started off in a mac before peeling it off to reveal a glittery minidress. She then switched up into a sparkly red dress, a silver jumpsuit and a black faux fur dress that was slashed to the hip. She later told Broadway star Billy Porter that she’s happier in her “tracky dacks” at home. We’re glad she made the effort… ITV1/ITVX, 7.45pm

To say Kylie has had an amazing year would be a colossal understatement. Not only is she celebrating one of the best albums of her career with Tension, but she has sold out a residency in Las Vegas and is centre stage on ITV tonight. But if that’s not enough, there’s also I Should Be So Lucky – a musical based on the hits she had while working with former producers, Stock, Aitken and Waterman. And there are no surprises here. Expect the familiar romcom tropes of mistaken identity, family secrets and love gone cold, topped off with the very welcome arrival of Kylie as an apparition in a giant mirror. Yes, really. For 80s lovers, this is pure pop fizz.
