RELEGATION TALK ALREADY OVER, INSISTS TOFFEES STAR

be sitting above Chelsea in the middle of the table if they had not been docked points.

Boss Dyche (below) has hailed Doucoure as the heartbeat of his team after the France-born Mali international scored another priceless goal in the 3-0 demolition of Toon.

The midfielder is just as gushing about the manager who brought him back into the fold after he had lost his way under previous boss Frank Lampard.

Doucoure, who was rewarded last month with ‘Beating a new contract, Newcastle was said: “We knew so good for our after last season mindset’ we needed to

change something. The manager understands us very well and has a lot of experience of the Premier League, so he has just given us confidence and belief.

“He was a big change for the club – the perfect fit.

“The manager is very honest, he tells us the truth, no matter what, so he’s been good.

“He has done a lot for me. I was not even in the team at that time, so when I was signing my new contract and he joked about my situation, it made me smile.

“He believes in me – but he believes in everyone. He gives every player a chance to play.

“In the beginning, when I came back into the team, I had a little bit of anger because I wanted to play.

“I scored a couple of important goals and it has gone on. It is my game to get in the box and I always believe I can score goals in any game.

“Obviously, you are going to miss some as well! But I always get my reward in the end.”

EVERTON midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure says the Toffees are only looking upwards after escaping the bottom three.

Sean Dyche’s men were plunged into the drop zone by a punishing 10-point deduction for failing to adhere to the Premier League’s financial rules.

But fears that the Merseyside club would be forced into a fight for survival for the third successive season have been eased by successive victories over Nottingham Forest and Newcastle.

And they now face Chelsea at Goodison, with Doucoure refusing to glance over his shoulder at the clubs who have been left behind.

He said: “Moving out of the bottom three is a big step. We knew beating Newcastle was very important – and it is so good for our mindset to be out of the relegation places.

“The season was very good before the 10-point deduction and obviously we were all looking up before it took us into the bottom three.

“As players, we have tried to focus on performances and to get as many points as we can – and I think, at the moment, we are playing very well.

“Beating Newcastle was a big step and Chelsea isgoing to be another tough game. But at home we can beat anyone, so we are very confident, and hope to have another good result.”
