Injured strikers a worry for Argyle

- REF:

PLYMOUTH boss Steven Schumacher faces an anxious wait to hear the outcome of sickening injuries to strikers Ryan Hardie and Mustapha Bundu.

Hardie was knocked out after a clash of heads with Daniel Ayala and replacement Mustapha Bundu was stretchered off with a gash to his shin.

Both players were taken to hospital before Morgan Whittaker grabbed an injury-time winner.

Schumacher said: “Ryan’s head injury looks a serious one, he has got swelling over his left eye and is getting a scan.

“There looks to be some sort of concussion and it didn’t look nice.

“There is a bad gash on Mustapha’s shin and he has gone to hospital as well. My main concerns is that both players are okay.”

Jamie Lindsay fired Rotherham into a 16th-minute lead before Hardie and Bundu’s injuries.

Finn Azaz levelled from the penalty spot in first-half injury time after Sam Nombe dragged down Lewis Gibson.

Azaz swept home

Whittaker’s cross to put Plymouth in front in the 52nd minute before Ayala picked up a second yellow card for handball.

Substitute Tom Eaves made it all square in the 77th minute but Whittaker landed the knockout blow in stoppage time.

Rotherham boss Leam Richardson said: “The sending-off changed everything but we deserved something out of the game.”
