MANSFIELD boss Nigel Clough says the win at Crawley was a great start to their busy run of games.

Baily Cargill, Davis Keillordun­n and George Maris got the goals with Danilo Orsi’s penalty levelling matters.

Clough said: “We have five games over the Christmas period, including this one, and it’s lovely to start with a win.”

Crawley had Jay Williams sent off and boss Scott Lindsey said: “He didn’t deserve it.”

Doncaster 0 Morecambe 5

GED BRANNAN is worried he may not be able to keep on-loan Burnley striker Michael Mellon at Morecambe.

The 20-year-old’s double moved him to 13 league goals with Eli King, Jacob Bedeau and David Tutonda also on target.

Brannan said: “It’s tremendous - but it’s not! The more goals he scores, the less chance there is of us keeping him in January.”

Harrogate 3 Notts County 1

LUKE WILLIAMS questioned whether his side were too scared to play for “a big club like Notts County” after their loss at Harrogate.

George Thomson, Abraham Odoh and Matty Daly scored Harrogate’s goals, while Jodi Jones pulled one back.

Williams fumed: “The performanc­e was terrible to be quite honest.

“If you want to play for a big club like Notts County, you can’t be scared to play football.”

Newport 1 Grimsby 1

GRAHAM COUGHLAN hopes to strengthen his Newport side in January.

Danny Rose cancelled out Omar Bogle’s opener.

Coughlan said: “We’re chucking points away too easily – one or two players will need to be changed to stop that. I think we can achieve a bit more with one or two fresh faces.”

New Grimsby boss David Artell said: “We could quite easily have lost it.”

Stockport 8 Sutton 0

DAVE CHALLINOR got the response he wanted.

Paddy Madden netted a hat-trick including a penalty, Ryan Croasdale added a brace and Kyle Wootton, Joel Cotterill and Isaac Olaofe scored one each.

Challinor said: “I take great pleasure and great pride out of the result. On the flip side, not great pride in the fact (Sutton boss) Matt (Gray) and his staff are probably the most honest group we’ll mix with and I feel really sorry for them.”

MAT SADLER says Jamille Matt is still a main man in League Two after he hit Walsall’s winner.

Matt has struggled with injury but Sadler said: “I always knew – and will maintain – what a guy he is at this level and I won’t be persuaded otherwise because I know what he can do.”

Tranmere boss Nigel Adkins said: “We are up against it but we are having a go.”

LEE BELL slammed Crewe fans who booed keeper Harvey Davies.

The 20-year-old was at fault for goals from Ben Woods and Josh Woods before Elliott Nevitt’s leveller. Aaron Rowe and Mickey Demetriou, sandwichin­g Jack Nolan’s equaliser, put Crewe, who had Luke Offord sent off, 2-1 up. Bell said: “He has had a tough afternoon but I was disappoint­ed with the reaction.”

Gillingham 0 Bradford 2

STEPHEN CLEMENCE lamented Gillingham’s defending in their home defeat to Bradford.

Goals from Jamie Walker and Andy Cook were enough to clinch a fifth straight win for Graham Alexander’s side, handing Clemence his first home league loss since he took over at the start of November.

A disappoint­ed Clemence said: “They’ve had two shots on target and they’ve scored two goals. It’s about mentality.”

Milton Keynes 2 Forest Green 0

DAVID HORSEMAN demanded improvemen­t as Forest Green slipped to another defeat.

Goals from Max Dean and Jack Payne left them five points from safety.

Horseman said: “It hasn’t been good enough. We have got some good players and they do care, but it’s just not working.”

Dons boss Mike Williamson said: “We had to show different sides of our character.”

Salford 0 Wimbledon 0

JOHNNIE JACKSON feels his Wimbledon side should have won at salford.

Jackson said: “How our team haven’t scored a goal is a bit of a mystery. We were outstandin­g the way we went about our performanc­e, created a lot of good openings that on another day we take.

“I’m just disappoint­ed it didn’t get what it deserved.”

Salford boss Neil Wood said: “The important thing for us is to not be conceding goals. That’s the positive.”

Swindon 0 Barrow 3

PETE WILD says Barrow can go up if they keep causing havoc from set-plays.

Kian Spence, Sam Foley and James Chester all scored as Swindon were well beaten at the County Ground.

Wild said: “We knew set-pieces would be a massive part of the game and it’s proved to be.

Generally, if you’re are up there with set-pieces, you get promoted.”

Wrexham 2 Colchester 1

PHIL PARKINSON praised a “colossal effort” after 10-man Wrexham beat his former club Colchester.

Elliot Lee’s opener was overshadow­ed by a red card for George Evans but a James Mcclean own-goal added to the lead before Jayden Fevrier’s late reply.

Parkinson said: “I’m very proud of the performanc­e. It’s a real effort.”

Colchester boss Matty Etheringto­n said: “I think it was an opportunit­y missed. We didn’t threaten the goal.”
