I’d love new Doctor to help me put sex ed guide together

- A new project EXCLUSIVE BY LAURA ARMSTRONG

DAVINA Mccall is on a mission to guide parents through the “minefield” of sex education – and wants the new Doctor Who to give her a helping hand.

Davina starred alongside new Time Lord Ncuti Gatwa in the Christmas Day episode of the BBC sci-fi hit. He has previously appeared in Netflix hit Sex Education.

In the past, Davina has challenged the taboos and misinformation surrounding the menopause and contraception.

But now she wants to support the families of kids who are learning about sex while being exposed to a “Wild West” of information online.

The mum-of-three is currently in talks to make a documentary so parents can help youngsters separate reality from what they see online.

LOTTERY

Davina said: “I’d like to look at sex education and how we can support kids. It’s the Wild West out there, in terms of what they can access.

“Young people don’t know how to have normal experiences at the beginning of their sex lives because they are seeing such crazy stuff online.

“What can we do about that? I’m having talks with people about this at the moment.

“There’s a curriculum in schools but it is a postcode lottery. And then it’s up to parents – what do we do? How do you have those difficult conversations?

“What if you’re a single mum but you have a boy or vice versa. Some single dads might find it easy to talk about periods, but others don’t. It’s a minefield.

“There is room for campaigning in this arena. But I would like to work on a documentary for families to sit down and watch together, and learn something.

“It could stay up on a page for people to come back to year after year and go, ‘Look, this is what you do and don’t want to do’.”

Davina admitted she would love Ncuti to be part of the project. She said: “I should try to get Ncuti involved. He is so cool and a great actor – he plays Doctor Who pitch perfect, as he does with everything. He’s amazing, he’s just so good.”
