BIG IMPACT: Supersub Keane celebrates second goal Keane is mustard as Lowe’s treble change pays off

-

PROUD Preston boss Ryan Lowe was pleased as punch as his bold triple substitution plan was executed to perfection.

Supersub striker Will Keane made the difference with a brilliant brace as the Lilywhites took control against Bristol City having been under the cosh in the first half.

But Lowe’s changes, especially introducing former Wigan striker Keane, worked wonders to lift the gloom around Deepdale, with his side having lost four of their last five league

Preston matches.

“We went into the staff room at halftime and I said I had to make bold decisions,” revealed Lowe.

“I just felt that we needed to have a bit more power at the top end of the pitch.

“It was a very pleasing performance, the players deserve a lot of credit.”

The home side weathered a storm before Keane made the difference with two fine finishes to take his tally to eight goals for the season.

He had two decent chances before netting clinically from the centre of the goal – and within 12 minutes he had doubled the home side’s advantage.

Fellow sub Mads Frokjaerjensen had a shot saved in the bottom left corner as the pressure mounted, before Keane fired into the bottom right corner with a superb left-foot strike.

Defeat for the Robins means they have now not won in their last four matches and last won at Deepdale 13 years ago.

“What you can’t do is give easy goals away and not be ruthless at the other end,” said disappointed manager Liam

Manning. Bristol C

“There was a lot I didn’t enjoy in the second half, it was difficult to watch.

“In the first half there was a lot of good, but it’s turning that good into outcomes, which we didn’t do.

“We have to work really hard to score high-level goals whereas the ones that we conceded are too easy.

“When you’re on top like that you have to make it count – and we didn’t.”
