Gunman Tristan Sherry was ultimately overpowered and killed inside the restaurant – with his semi-automatic weapon being taken from the scene.

Despite the intense security operation, yesterday’s events passed off without incident and came after the highly-monitored funeral of Tristan Sherry took place in Finglas last Tuesday.

Sources have said there are genuine fears that bitter dispute between associates of the late Mr Hennessy and Tristan Sherry may now spill into a wider feud.

The Mirror has previously reported that associates of Mr Hennessy have been involved in a bitter dispute with

Tristan Sherry for some time – and that it massively escalated before Christmas.

Sources say Sherry had once been a part of Hennessy Sr’s crew but that they had a massive falling out in recent times.

Sherry is believed to have previously fired shots at a close associate of Hennessy Sr.

He is then understood to have been the victim himself of a brutal stabbing incident just months ago – with Hennessy’s associates being blamed.

It is this incident, along with a war of words that gardai suspect may have led to the shooting on Christmas Eve.

Sources say Sherry later sided with the Finglas mobster known as ‘Mr Flashy’ – who has been feuding with associates of Hennessy Sr.

Officers are understood to be concerned of any potential further after the funeral.
