Whittaker keeps his eyes on prize

- By MATT BAMSEY

IAN FOSTER insists Morgan Whittaker has not had his head turned by Premier League clubs circling to sign the prized Plymouth striker.

Fulham, Brentford and West Ham have all been linked with the frontman.

Whittaker scored his 15th league goal of the season to seal Argyle’s eighth home Championship win of the season.

Pilgrims head coach Foster said: “No one has made an offer for Morgan.

“He is loving his time here and he is a big part of the culture of the group.

“Morgan is playing well and doesn’t take his eye off the ball. My challenge is to make him the best player he can be.

“He is very level-headed so all the noise won’t affect him one bit. This is a big three points but we won’t get carried away.”

Cardiff got off to a dream start in the 10th minute when Ryan Wintle’s corner hit Argyle defender Ashley Phillips and Perry Ng stabbed home the rebound.

Plymouth hit back in the 31st minute as Ryan Hardie steered Alfie Devine’s cross into the bottom corner.

Hardie continued to terrorise Cardiff and smashed Argyle in front in the 51st minute.

Bali Mumba threaded a pass into the Scot who found the roof of the net for his 10th league goal.

Hardie turned provider in the 81st minute after his cross was guided home by Whittaker.

The win saw Argyle climb four places to 15th while Cardiff dropped to 14th.

Bluebirds boss Erol Bulut said: “We still have 18 games to play and we need to wake up. I have to make a clear decision about myself in the next 10 to 12 days as I am not happy with our position.”
