The boo boys always have something to moan about

FAN COMPLAINTS A FAMILIAR FEELING FOR RODGERS

- MICHAEL GANNON

BRENDAN RODGERS admits he’s getting used to the boos in his second spell at Celtic boss.

The were jeers from the Parkhead stands after the final whistle yesterday – despite a sixth win on the spin and maintaining their five point lead in the Premiership.

Rodgers – who also slammed the state of Celtic Park pitch – insisted the terrace grumbles are becoming a regular occurrence.

He said: “I’ve had that since I’ve been here. If it’s not the result, it’s me. If not me, the board. So, all we can do as a team is win games, and try to improve and develop.

“That’s what the team has done. The team and ourselves as staff work hard every day together, and that’s how we will continue to be.

“If it falls below the expectation, then we’ll do everything we can to be better.”

Rodgers is hoping to cheer up impatient punters with a couple of signings before the transfer window closes.

But he admitted his side are going to have to tough it out on the sloppy Celtic Park playing surface.

Rodgers said: “It’s something as a club we need to address, as a flagship club in Scotland and especially with how we want to play. It’s not overloaded with games – it’s more a field than a pitch. “That’s the reality but however it sits we have to get the job done and thankfully we did that.” Celtic fans were frustrated by the display as the Hoops had to hang on at the end despite scoring in the first minute and having chances to put the game to bed. Luis Palma (left) missed TWO penalties after blowing the chance to make amends for the first fluffed effort when ref Euan Anderson ordered a retake. Alistair Johnston’s opener after 56 seconds should have set up a stroll for Rodgers’ men.

Johnston’s drive took a wicked deflection and torturously crept past Wickens.

Rodgers said: “You put it down to a good result, Ross County coming with new players and enthusiasm. We get a really good start and should have been more comfortable.”

Celtic fans are demanding new faces before the window shuts on Wednesday night.

Rodgers – who will dump Palma as penalty taker – said: “There are areas we are looking to improve on. Hopefully there’s movement, that’s the plan. Getting that player in who can help our level and let us develop.”
