Hot-shot Spencer fired up
TEENAGE terror Brodie Spencer hopes his Huddersfield return can inspire a welcome rise up the Championship table.
The Terriers have not won on the road in the league for TWO months, their last away triumph a 2-1 victory over Sunderland on November 29.
And the highly-rated Northern Ireland international defender, 19, knows how much a victory over fellow strugglers QPR – who are just three points behind them in the standings – at Loftus Road today could kickstart their misfiring season.
“I think everyone knows how big a game it is,” said Spencer, who has been recalled early from a successful loan spell at Motherwell to help get the Yorkshire club out of trouble.
“It could be a really positive boost just to go down there and get three points.
“After the past couple of positive performances we’ve had, I think that it’s time we go down there and get the three points.
“It would be massive for us if we can get the win for our fans.”
Spencer impressed with 17 starts for the Steelmen in the Scottish Premier League – and he loved his time north of the border.
But the former academy graduate is delighted to be back at the John Smith’s Stadium and is understandably hungry to help the Terriers get their season back on track.
His defensive return has helped the club earn battling 1-1 draws with Plymouth and Blackburn, in their last two games respectively.
“It’s been great coming back, I’ve come back with the intention of playing every game and every minute, which I’ve done so far,” added Spencer.
“In some ways it doesn’t feel like I’ve even left, it’s still a lot of the same faces from when I was here earlier in the season.
“The gaffer [Darren Moore] wants me to be enthusiastic and to get stuck in, that’s the type of player I am.
“He wants me to bring positivity to the team.”
