ANT TIPS SOLANKE FOR ENGLAND

- REPORTING

DOMINIC SOLANKE’S red-hot form has come as no surprise to Bournemouth team-mate Antoine Semenyo.

The former Liverpool frontman notched his 13th Premier League goal of the season in Thursday’s 1-1 draw at West Ham.

And partner in crime Semenyo claims Solanke, 26, is destined for an England call-up in March as he looks to solidify his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championships.

“He definitely has a chance,” said the Ghana international (below).

“I think he will get picked but he just needs to keep scoring goals, keep working hard for the team and his chance will come.

“We see what he can do every day in training. It’s no surprise to us but we’re very happy that he’s scoring lots of goals.”

Solanke has already doubled his top-flight goal haul from last season when he only netted six times in 33 outings.

Only Erling Haaland and Mo Salah (14) have struck more times in the Premier League this term. Now he’s targeting the 20-goal mark and who knows what the highflying Cherries can achieve now Solanke and Lloyd Kelly, who limped off in midweek, have stayed put beyond the transfer deadline?

Semenyo added: “They’re important players for us at the end of the day so I’m happy to have them here at the end of this transfer window. All of us are.”

The former Bristol City attacker is still grieving following Ghana’s premature exit at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast but he has been thrust straight back into action at club level – something that has helped ease the pain.

Ahead of today’s home clash with Nottingham Forest, Semenyo added: “I feel like I’m still processing it right now but I have a job at hand. I need to score goals and help the team.

“It feels good to be back and be with the team again, football is my job and I love it.”
