Double order of Koroma gives Terriers their bite

-

HUDDERSFIELD caretaker boss and boyhood fan Jon Worthington admitted he was in “dreamland” after they thrashed dismal Sheffield Wednesday in a relegation six-pointer.

This was the first game since Darren Moore’s exit as Terriers boss and the players smacked in four quick-fire second-half goals.

Josh Koroma scored twice — and Matty Pearson and Sorba Thomas also netted — to leave collapsing Wednesday reeling in this Yorkshire derby.

Cruel chants of “Are you watching Darren Moore?” were heard after he was axed, with his conservative style noted by the hierarchy.

And Worthington, a former Terriers captain, said: “It’s a privilege for me to take the game. I’ve been here since I was nine years old.

“I’m in dreamland really, when it’s 4-0.

“We knew we had to win the game, nothing else. At home, we have to go with that mentality, regardless of the opposition.”

Moore’s sacking as boss means Huddersfield are looking for their sixth manager since the start of last season.

Both these clubs have outspoken owners — Kevin Nagle at Huddersfield and Dejphon Chansiri at Wednesday.

Huddersfield’s hierarchy want more front-foot football and Worthington’s men delivered in their purple patch.

This major blow to Wednesday’s survival hopes will not improve many angry fans’ feelings towards Chansiri.

Worthington’s men triumphed despite missing unfit key men and losing new signings Rhys Healey and Bojan Radulovic to injury during this game.

The Owls actually had the better of the goalless first half and their best chance was Michael Ihiekwe’s header, cleared off the line by Healey.

But the visitors imploded after the hour-mark.

Wednesday boss Danny Rohl said: “We lost, a little bit, our heads. It’s really a knock but, on Monday, I will lift them up.

“As long as I’m manager here, I will fight.” HUDDERSFIELD: Nicholls 6; Pearson 6, Balker 6 (Jackson (82) 6), Lees 7, Spencer 7; Matos 8, Hogg 8; Thomas 7, Healey 7 (Wiles (24) 7), Koroma 8; Radulovic 6 (Diarra (58) 6) SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY: Beadle 5; Valentin 5, Bernard 6, Ihiekwe 6, Pedersen 5 (James (82) 6); Palmer 5, Bannan 6 (Diaby (82) 6); Musaba 5 (Poveda (73) 5), Ugbo 6 (Cadamarteri (63) 6), Gassama 6; Smith 5 (Wilks (73) 5) STAR MAN: Josh Koroma – Kept his head to score twice, while Wednesday were losing theirs.
