With Valentine’s Day coming up on Wednesday, Kildare native Megan O’shea, 31, has revealed how Cupid speared her on the show as she fell head over heels with Cork heartthrob Alan Dunne, 31, on episode two of the blind date series.

After a string of hellish dates on Tinder, finding love on telly was a dream come true for the couple.

Speaking to the Irish Sunday Mirror, Megan said: “We were both just open to the possibility of what could happen.

“Our relationship blossomed because we both were interested in each other. He’s obviously a very attractive man too.”

FINE

Megan’s mum was a fan instantly too. She added: “My mam Brid says ‘he’s a fine bit of stuff’, that’s the Kildare mammy in her, his mam Bernie is so lovely too.”

When quizzed about a possible Valentine’s marriage proposal, Megan insisted the foundations are being built for lasting love.

She said: “My parents got engaged because my mam went on a twoweek holiday and my dad missed her.

“That might happen to us in a while but we’re very happy and comfortable with each other.

“We’re not putting too much pressure on ourselves.

“The foundation we’re building now is very positive as to what could happen in the future.”

Romantic Alan, who works as a fleet manager for a car company, has organised their very first Valentine’s date.

She added: “Two weeks ago Alan said we need to make a plan and we’re going for a romantic dinner this weekend, for a nice meal.

“He thinks he’s very romantic, if the restaurant put a candle on the table at dinner

it’ll be great. He’s very thoughtful, if he goes to the shop he’ll get me my favourite drinks or crisps without even asking, like my favourite white Magnum. “Everybody’s about handbags but if Alan comes home to me with a packet of sour cream Hunky Dorys I’m happy. “I’m not very hard to please. But he did get me a lovely gold watch for Christmas without anyone’s help.”

The pair are now cohabiting during the week and Megan said she’s privy to his bad habits.

She said: “I’m after leaving the supermarket buying his dinner, I wouldn’t call it domestic bliss, if you heard the snoring, Mother of God.

“He said to me I’m so quiet, I can get in and out of the house without even waking him.

“But he’s a tornado, even the way he moves the blanket makes noise.”

After “hellish” years of online dating, Megan said she’s thrilled to be planning her first romantic getaway with Alan.

She said: “We’ve been away on nice weekends, for his birthday we went just outside Belfast to a Hastings Group Hotel, it was so nice, bathrobes and the rest.

“For our first dream holiday we just want to chill in Portugal or Spain and we’re planning that now.”

Opening up on the fickle world of online dating she said: “Apps are hell on earth.

“On Tinder they are all serial daters.

“I kind of gave up last year and said whatever happens will be.

“Old-fashioned blind dating like First Dates is so much better.”
