No Silva lining for Broja as Rodrigo keeps him waiting

-

MARCO SILVA hailed Fulham match-winner Rodrigo Muniz and admitted deadline signing Armando Broja will have to be patient.

After watching Brazilian striker Muniz, 22, score either side of the break, the Fulham boss was full of praise for his impact over the last couple of games.

But, of course, that also means on-loan Chelsea hitman Broja will have to bide his time before he makes his full debut for the Cottagers.

Portuguese coach Silva, with a first win in seven under the belt, said: “I’m really pleased for Rodrigo. The second goal was a great finish.

“When you have your chance, you have to pop up and show you can take it. He’s doing this.

“He scored last weekend when he had a good 65 minutes. But today was his best display in a Fulham shirt. He is fighting hard for what he wants.

“He’s a young lad , who came from Brazil to England and waited so long for his first Premier League goal. So it’s easy to see why he is emotional.”

As for where that leaves Broja, also 22, Silva added: “I really believe Armando is going to help us a lot over the next few months.

But we need this competition for places. It’s good. He knows that.

“I always pick the best team to win.”

Bournemouth counterpart Andoni Iraola blamed a sloppy, sleepy first-half show for extending his side’s winless league streak to five.

The Cherries chief said: “We did a lot of good things after we went two-nil down but we’d already conceded too much to them at the beginning.

“We had 25 shots overall maybe but were not at our level at the start. We need to look at ourselves.”
