Edwards tells boo boys to join fight against relegation

- SHEFFIELD WEDS Ugbo 31, Musaba 41 By NICK SZCZEPANIK

MILLWALL boss Joe Edwards refused to criticise the Den crowd for booing his team off at the end of a defeat by fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday.

Edwards’ men have taken only one point from their last seven league games and are now just a single point above the drop zone.

“When people think you are letting them down, they have every right to express that,” Edwards said.

“Not to declare an official ..... 2 relegation fight but we are down there. Maybe the pressure got to us.

“We are a team playing with a lack of confidence. It is a concerning period. The only way is to stick together and face it.”

Wednesday have won two of their last three games and are now just four points behind Millwall.

“It was great, a little bit of adult football,” said Owls boss Danny Rohl.

“Sometimes away from home we bring some gifts but today it was about taking the result. When we are clinical in both boxes we can take something.”

Wednesday went ahead in the 31st minute, Ike Ugbo netting after Anthony Musaba had fired over a low cross. Musaba then made it 2-0 10 minutes later.

Millwall gave it a bit of a go in the second half but although Wednesday sub Ashley Fletcher was sent off for two yellows in two minutes, both came in added time and too late to make any difference.
