Even my radio guests want show gossip says TV judge

DANCING With The Stars judge Brian Redmond said he’s plagued for backstage gossip from the telly hit – even when on his radio show.

The former pro ballroom champ said he can’t escape the questions live on air on his morning show on KCLR.

Brian, 46, said: “I don’t want to be your man 24/7 off Dancing With The Stars. I had a local councillor talking about 28 houses, they were completed 18 months ago and they still haven’t been given to tenants in Kilkenny.

“The first thing he said when he came on the segment was, ‘you don’t have your dickie bow on today’.”

Brian, known for his “tough love” judging style, added: “We had Senator [Tom] Clonan on to talk about the referendum. He started by talking about Dancing With The Stars.”

Brian, who judges celebs’ efforts alongside Loraine Barry and Arthur Gourounlian, said Arthur has been a bit nastier of late. He admitted: “I think

Arthur has had a couple of weeks where he wasn’t particularly fond of the performances of Jason Smyth in particular.

“I’m not quite sure how well he dealt with that big boo he got.”

Asked if flamboyant Arthur is stealing his Mr Nasty crown, he quipped: “It’s a heavy coat to wear at times, so if he wants to wear it...”

Brian revealed the star who has most surprised him on the series is retired champion jockey Davy Russell.

“I thought he was going to be the one after week seven that would have me banging my head off the desk going how in God’s name is he still here? He’s genuinely improving. He’s so on the ball and he’s buying into it.”

Brian also revealed he can’t wait to see hosts Jennifer Zamparelli and Doireann Garrihy dancing on tonight’s show, saying it will be “challenging”.

Dancing With The Stars continues tonight at 6.30pm on RTE One.
