Enzo sunk by Sinc as runaway Foxes start to feel hunted

-

LEICESTER boss Enzo Maresca was down in the dumps after his side’s season threatened to implode.

Goals from Ilias Chair and Sinclair Armstrong condemned the Foxes to a third straight league loss.

In just two weeks they have gone from promotion certainties to contenders for one of English football’s biggest collapses.

Maresca’s men are now just three points ahead of second-place Ipswich and five clear of Leeds in third.

And the Italian said: “It’s a bad feeling. In the last three defeats, we dominated with the chances but in this sport the most important thing is to score.

“It’s already a long time we have been there and everyone is chasing us.

“We are not in a moment we can think about that – we just need to win games.

“If you get too nervous it could be dangerous, if you relax, it could be dangerous. You have to be mentally strong because we have a game in three days.”

The Foxes are just not taking the chances that are coming their way.

Patson Daka was denied by Asmir Begovic early on before Harry Winks went close with two good chances.

Stephy Mavididi also missed the target with a left-footed effort.

QPR went on to score with their first chance of the game on 38 minutes.

Lyndon Dykes charged down the right and crossed for Chair to net from close range.

It was the Moroccan’s first goal since he appealed against a jail sentence for assault.

Rangers went on to score a second 12 minutes into the second half as Armstrong netted with his first touch seconds after coming on.

Jimmy Dunne headed on Chair’s free-kick before Sam Field laid the ball off for the sub to power home.

On the hour, Leicester appeared back in it as Ben Nelson scored his first career goal, on the rebound after Kiernan Dewsburyhall’s effort from a freekick was saved by Begovic.

But the Foxes did not do enough to salvage a point despite two attempts from Abdul Fatawu. QPR heroically put their bodies on the line for the cause to keep themselves out of the bottom three.

Boss Marti Cifuentes said: “I am not getting carried away with a victory because the reality is the table shows we are still in a big battle.

“To get out and achieve this great escape, there is still a lot more to be done.

“I thought Leicester would be more angry but I’m sure they will go up.”
