Gers to aim for Roofe rasiser

V

- Dundee Rangers

12pm KEMAR ROOFE insists Rangers won’t blow a domestic gasket just because of a minor malfunction in Europe.

The hitman (above) admits there was huge disappointment around Ibrox that the wheels came off their continental adventure against Benfica. But, ahead of day’s lunchtime kick-off with Dundee at Dens Park, Roofe is adamant there is no way Gers will breakdown on the home front as Philippe Clement (left) has build a winning machine. The Jamaican striker said: “We’ve shown many times over the seasons, and this season, that we will now redouble our efforts.

“We’re disappointed but we will recover. It’s like a switch we’ve got. The gaffer has brought a kind of machine mentality – we go again.

“We still have so much to play for. And let’s not underestimate the quality of the Europa League and the team we lost to. They just about beat us.”

Roofe is looking at the bigger picture. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t gutted to go out though.

There wasn’t much in the tie over the two legs and it swung on a counter-attack from a Rangers corner that let in Rafa Silva to score for the Portuguese.

Yet Roofe won’t let it linger too long for the Light Blues squad.

He said: “It was disappointing and frustrating to go out. It was a big night, a big occasion and we’ve done well on these sort of occasions.

“We prepared all week for it and we played really well.

“It’s just those fine margins, isn’t it? They got their goal and we didn’t manage to get one.

“It’s disappointing but we go again and now have another big game (against Dundee). We need to draw a line under this and deal with the league game.”
